The Allahabad High Court on Saturday suspended Unnao Additional District Judge (ADG) Jaya Pathak on charges of assaulting a constable.
A video of Pathak thrashing the police constable in Uttarakhand's Dehradun had surfaced on social media.
The High Court took the decision after consulting with the administrative committee.
The High Court was hearing the plea filed by the Uttarakhand police in the case.
The court also ordered the registration of a case against the police constable.
Pathak was posted as Additional District Judge in the Family Court in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh.
