Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Monday denied all the allegations put forward by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in the national capital, saying that all these were just political positioning and nothing else.
"There is no truth in this allegation. Earlier also, this sort of allegation has been labeled against Delhi Police and I have made it very clear that we have been acting on merit. We are an instrumentality of rule of law. If anybody transcends the penal laws, we come into picture. If anybody has any grievance, he is welcome to come to us," said Bassi.
"If any allegation of this sort is labeled against us, I will again repeat it is nothing but political positioning," he added.
AAP on Saturday alleged that the capital's police force was wasting time by leveling 'false' charges against party MLAs, instead of ensuring the security of women in the capital.
AAP MLA Surinder Singh was booked by the Delhi police for allegedly abusing and beating up a worker of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation on Wednesday evening, after which the party's Delhi Convenor Dilip Pandey said that it was all because police is busy cooking up false charges against their MLAs.
