Alok Verma takes charge as Delhi Police Commissioner

Senior IPS officer Alok Kumar Verma on Monday took charge as the Delhi Police Commissioner. He succeeds B.S. Bassi, who retires today.

The 1979-batch officer, who is currently Director General (Prisons), will hold the post till July 2017.

Bassi on his last day in office earlier today said it is a 'misunderstanding' that the Delhi Police works under political pressure.
