Amid heavy security, Zimbabwe arrives in Pak for their tour

The Zimbabwe cricket team arrived in Lahore on Tuesday, the first test-playing nation to tour Pakistan since a gun attack on Sri Lanka's team bus in 2009 had left six policemen and a van driver dead.

Armed security personnel guarded airport and the entire route as they drove to the hotel.

During their tour, the tourists will play two Twenty-20 internationals and three ODIs. All the matches will be held in Lahore.

Meanwhile, pakpassion.net quoted former Zimbabwe cricketer Kyle Jarvis as saying that though the conditions will be tough for the visitors, they will be competitive and put up a good show. Looking forward to an exciting series, Jarvis further opined that Pakistani fans will be looking forward to the series with great expectations.

The Zimbabwe tour was thrown in doubt last week, after a terror attack in Karachi left 47 people dead. Zimbabwe Cricket had released a statement, saying that the national side would not go ahead with the tour, on the advice of the country's sports regulatory authority, the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).

However, just minutes later, the statement had been withdrawn, with players who were reluctant to travel having been persuaded to tour after additional security measures were announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will not send match officials for the series.
