Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Friday launched a scheme to provide electricity to remote villages where people have no access to electricity.
Bachchan who turned 71 today said that he felt relaxed after launching the scheme through the trust named after his father, the renowned Hindi poet, Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
"There is a trust in my father's name - Harivansh Rai Bachchan Trust - and whatever money we collect, we give it to some charitable cause. With the help of Urja Foundation we aim to provide electricity to three thousand houses with the help of solar panel, free of cost. This is just the beginning and we will be starting in November," he told media here today.
Bachchan had announced the formation of a charitable organisation- Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust, in memory of his late father on September 3.
"I am happy to announce the formation of a Trust in the memory of my Father - HRB Memorial Trust - which shall work to collect funds for charity. My own efforts at creating events or acts to contribute to it shall be prime, and the list of the charitable work done shall be soon visible to all," he had posted on his blog.
