The supporters of Janata Dal (United) MLA Anant Singh, who has been arrested in a kidnapping case, staged a protest here on Thursday and demanded his release.

They raised slogans against Jitendra Rana, the outgoing Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Patna.

The policemen deployed in the areas tried to bring the situation under control as the protestors repeatedly raised slogans in favour of the arrested JD (U) MLA and demanded his release.

Singh was arrested yesterday in Patna in connection with a 2014 kidnapping and extortion case filed in Bihita.

The MLA from Mokama was arrested hours after police questioned him and searched his residences in Patna and Barh in connection with another abduction and murder case that took place last week.
