Andy Murray says that he is disappointed with himself for the way he tweeted his support for Scottish independence referendum.
Murray said that while he did not "regret giving an opinion" the way he had worded his tweet was not in his character.
According to the BBC, Murray's tweet, just hours before polls opened on Thursday, read: "Huge day for Scotland today! no campaign negativity last few days totally swayed my view on it. excited to see the outcome. lets do this".
Soon after his tweet, the tennis star was subjected to abuse on Twitter with some users sending him hate messages.
He said that despite of facing disappointment, he was willing to move on and concentrate on tennis for the next few months.
