At least 95 people were killed and 250 wounded in twin explosions that struck a road junction in the centre of Turkish capital Ankara on Saturday.

According to The Guardian, the explosions targeted hundreds of people who had gathered to protest against violence between authorities and the Kurdish militant group.

No terrorist organization has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Turkish government officials said the explosions were a terrorist attack carried out by suicide bombers.

The attack was the deadliest in the city's history, and has ratcheted up tensions ahead of Turkey's November 1 snap elections.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan condemned the attack and said that the attack targets the unity, togetherness, brotherhood of the nation.
