Indian boxer Shiva Thapa was knocked out of the Rio Olympics after going down 0-3 at the hands of Cuba's Ramirez Robeisy in the Men's Bantam 56kg event here on Wednesday.

Although the World Championships bronze-medallist displayed some great efforts, Robeisy took a comfortable unanimous decision victory in three rounds of the thrilling preliminary bout at Riocentro-Pavilion. The judges scored it 30-25, 30-27, 30-27 to the Cuban.

Earlier, India had a great start to their boxing campaign as Manoj Kumar and Vikas Krishan both stormed into the pre-quarterfinals of their respective men's boxing category.

Manoj will now lock horns with Fazliddin Gaibnazarov of Uzbekistan for a place in the quarter-finals of the Men's Light Welter 64kg event while Vikas will take on Onder Sipal in the round of 16 of the men's 75kg weight category.
