With the monsoon spreading across the country, India's leading standalone health insurance company 'Apollo Munich Health Insurance' has introduced a 'Dengue Care' policy at an affordable one-time premium of Rs. 444.

'Dengue Care' was launched by Apollo's brand advocate and legendary cricketer Sourav Ganguly along with Antony Jacob, CEO, Apollo Munich Health Insurance, in the national capital on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ganguly narrated the anguish which he had to face when his daughter went through the disease a few years ago and urged everyone to pledge their platelets for helping the people suffering from dengue.

"Dengue is often assumed to strike those living in and around slums, but it is not necessarily true. Dengue mosquito breeds in dirty water and they can infect anyone, anywhere. I congratulate Apollo Munich for this path breaking product with great features, and yet affordable. It actually costs Rs. 1.2 a day," said Ganguly.

Ganguly stated that the biggest benefit of the 'Dengue Care' policy is the claim, which the people will be able to get in 15 days.

Jacob said that Apollo Munich has developed 'Dengue Care' keeping with our DNA to innovate and create uncomplicated products, which are truly instrumental in fulfilling the needs of the consumers.

"Dengue care actually serves the entire population. It caters to the people, who have not got insurance because it is very easy to buy, easy to understand and it is very easy on the pocket as it is only for Rs 1.22. Plus, it is easy to use if you have dengue," he told ANI here.

Jacob further said it is very important for him that the people understand 'Dengue Care', as it is very easy to use and provides a cover of Rs. 50,000 at just Rs. 1.22 per day.

Dr Bhawatosh, executive committee member, Apollo Munich Health Insurance, stated that there was no vaccine available commercially for dengue.

"People need to understand that dengue mosquito bites in the day time, so we need to more cautious when we get out of the house," he added.
