Congress leader J.P Aggarwal on Wednesday said all those accused of corruption during the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG) scam should be jailed.

He was reacting to reports of five persons including four Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials, being jailed for six and four years respectively in connection with the CWG street lighting case.

"People say that the BJP-ruled Delhi Municipal Corporation is full of corrupt practices. There should be restriction on it," Aggarwal told ANI.

"This is in the news for many days that the Delhi Municipal Corporation is not working properly. There is so much corruption in the Delhi Municipal Corporation and people are disturbed with it," he added.

Aggarwal said, "No one wants to protect any corrupt person. Mere allegations are not enough. Place the evidence in court. This is the job of the government in power."

The main accused in the scam, T.P Singh, has been sentenced to six years in jail. The other accused have been given four year jail terms.

The four MCD officials are former superintendent engineer D K Sugan, executive engineer O P Mahala, accountant Raju V and tender clerk Gurcharan Singh, according to reports.

The convicts have been accused of charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, and forgery for the purpose of cheating. They were also charged under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
