Tottenham Hotspur had to face a major disappointment after it failed to secure a top four finish in the Premier League which was clinched by Arsenal, who won 1-0 against a lacklustre Newcastle United.
Even though Gareth Bale's late wonder goals have spurred Tottenham on all season and has put them in contention for Champions League qualification, the three points they picked up with a 1-0 win at home against Sunderland were not enough due to Arsenal's win, the Independent reports.
The report further said that Arsenal had finished one point ahead of their bitter rivals in the final standings.
Meanwhile, the report added, Chelsea secured third place in the league with a 2-1 home win over Everton.
