Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju undertook an aerial survey of the flood affected areas in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday, and came to the conclusion that road networks could only be restored after the rain recedes or stops.

Khandu told media persons here, "I and Kiren took an aerial view of the situation, but, we couldn't go to a lot of places due to poor weather conditions. The restoration process of the road networks would be difficult to conduct, till the rain settles down."

Khandu said floods have disrupted road networks, water and electricity supply.

"The current situation is better than what it was a few days ago," he added.

Arunachal Pradesh has recorded incessant rains since June, leading to massive floods, land and mud slides that have washed away roads, culverts, bridges, telecommunication system etc to bring life to a grinding halt.

The natural catastrophe has claimed 23 lives during this ongoing monsoon, including 14 buried alive at Laptap village under Sagalee sub-division of Papum Pare district when a hillock came crushing during afternoon on July 11 last.
