Former Delhi police commissioner Y. S. Dadwal, who was appointed as one of the two advisors to Arunachal Pradesh Governor J.P. Rajkhowa last month after imposition of president's rule, proceeded on sick leave for 10 days on Wednesday, giving room for speculation as to why he had taken this step.

One of the rumours doing the rounds was that he had resigned from his post.

Dadwal, however, denied that he had resigned.

"I had spinal injuries while playing golf and the pain aggravated due to jerking while inspecting damaged parts of the highway (NH-415) for which I'm proceeding for treatment," he quipped before his departure from a helipad in Itanagar this morning.

"I will come back soon," he added.

Dadwal and G S Patnaik, a 1980 batch retired IAS officer, were appointed advisors by the Centre following the imposition of president's rule in the state on January 26.

Dadwal, who was designated Advisor (Home-Political), was assigned the district administration, election, home and inter-state border affairs, parliamentary affairs, political (excluding vigilance), PWD, disaster management, transport and civil aviation, youth affairs and sports, general administration, Department of Tirap and Changlang, secretariat administration, excise and narcotics, culture affairs, mines, labour and employment, land management and IT and ST.

Meanwhile, Raj Bhawan has in a release said that 1980 batch West Bengal cadre IPS officer Banshidhar Sharma has been appointed as Governor's Rajkhowa's third advisor.

Dadwal is expected to rejoin the state administration on February 17.
