The four-day long session of the Assam Legislative Assembly, which will be the last session before state polls, will begin here today.
The proceedings of the house are likely to begin after the address from Assam Governor P B Acharya.
The opposition parties are likely to corner the ruling Congress Government on several issues including law and order and fund utilization besides others. Three bills are likely to be tabled in the session.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had on Thursday declared Union youth affairs and sports minister Sarbanand Sonowal as its chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Assam assembly elections.
The elections to the 126- seat Assam Assembly are going to take place in May this year, with the tenure of Tarun Gogoi-led Congress Government coming to an end on June 5.
