The host nation of the next Commonwealth Games, Australia, has reportedly promised to build on the standout Glasgow 2014 and deliver the 'best' Games.
Jann Stuckey, the minister for the next Games on Australia's Gold Coast in April 2018, also believes that the event would continue for a long time. Stuckey said that the Gold Coast would not be the beginning of the end; it would be a reinvigoration.
The next Games would be held from 4-15 April 2018 in Australia and most of the venues for the disciplines are already in place, The BBC reported.
New arenas have been built for the badminton, wrestling, track cycling and mountain biking, while the Aquatic Centre is ready three years ahead of schedule and would host August's Pan Pacific Swimming Championships.
The athletics and opening and closing ceremonies at the 2018 Commonwealth Games would be hosted by the Carrara Stadium.
Stuckey said that the country has been a thirsty sponge in extracting the best elements that made Glasgow 2014 successful. She said that they are absorbing all they can.
Stuckey added that some things they would do differently, but for the most part; transport, security and volunteering programmes, they would be taking a leaf out of Glasgow's book.
She added that Australia would raise the bar further than what Glasgow has done for the best Games yet.
