Congress leader Ambika Soni on Friday said that backroom channels of communication should have been activated between India and Pakistan before reaching the final understanding on to hold talks at the NSA level.
"We have such a large international border. There has to been some responsibility on the part of the government. The backroom channels should have been made active before the NSA-level talks were planned," said Soni.
"From the day this government has come into power, everything has been going against to what Prime Minister Narendra Modi used to say when he was in opposition. He is not fulfilling any promise that he had made," she added.
The Pakistani troops resorted to yet another ceasefire violation in the R S Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday in which three civilians were killed and many more have been injured.
Islamabad has been resorting to continuous ceasefire violations following the NSA-level talks cancellation.
