Underfire Australian batsman George Bailey can secure his place in the Test squad for the tour of South Africa by scoring big in the one-day internationals against England, starting from Sunday.
Bailey is under pressure to keep his place for next month's tour of South Africa after he averaged 26 and made it past 50 once in the five Ashes Tests.
Australian coach Darren Lehmann gave him some reassurance on Thursday by reiterating that strong performances in the five ODIs against England will count for when the selectors decide on the squad for South Africa on January 29, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Bailey made his way into Australia's Test squad for Ashes after scoring heavily against India in ODIs, averaging 95.6.
Fast bowler James Pattinson is also looking to make a come back for South Africa series after missing the majority of the back-to-back Ashes series with stress fractures.
