Bailey says Oz might have won T20 against India if not for 'close Yuvraj call'

Australian stand-in captain George Bailey has said that his side would have won the Twenty20 clash against India on Thursday if not for one crucial moment falling in India's favour.

An impressive, unbeaten, match-winning 77 from India's comeback star Yuvraj Singh powered India to a six-wicket victory in the one-off T20 game, chasing Australia's own target of 202, boosted by a blazing innings from short-form specialist Aaron Finch, with two balls to spare.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, with Clint McKay bowling, Singh flicked a length delivery of his pads and seemingly over the fence for one of his five sixes in the outstanding 35-ball innings, following which Shane Watson fielded the ball over the rope and attempted to fling it in the air to re-gather it.

However, Watson was unable to plant his feet inside the rope before re-gathering the ball, and Bailey said that had Watson caught Singh on the fence, it would have changed the situation for Australia, adding that it was disappointing that they failed to catch the close call just by inches.

Earlier, after being sent in, Australia posted 7-201 on the back of an impressive 89 from Finch, who was ably supported with cameos from Glenn Maxwell (27 off 13) and debutant Nic Maddinson (34 off 16), the report added.
