A 'bandh' has been called in Bangalore today to protest the rising crimes against women in the city. The city bore a deserted look as public transport was off the roads and several shops, businesses and restaurants remained closed.

Bangalore has been rocked by two shocking crimes recently where minor girls were sexually assaulted, leading to huge protests and a candle light vigil.

A massive crowd had gathered ON July 19 outside a police station in Bangalore, as the entire city demanded justice for the six-year-old who was allegedly raped inside her school.

The protest was started by parents of school going kids demanding strict action against the school authorities and the management.

But in yet another shocking case, Bangalore police yesterday arrested a support staff's son who is alleged to have raped a seven-year-old girl.

"A girl of about seven years of age who was at her support staff's (aya) house at that point of time is alleged to have been raped by the support staff's son who is 28-years-old. We have already arrested the accused, the investigation will continue," said Bangalore Police Commissioner M. N. Reddi.

Prior to this, on July 3, two gym instructors had allegedly raped a six-year-old girl inside the premises of Bangalore's Vibgyor School when she had gone to the washroom.

Bangalore has witnessed a slew of protests after the shocking incident came to light. The earlier Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar also faced the heat and was replaced by M N Reddi.
