German champions Bayern Munich will reportedly play against Spanish counterparts Real Madrid in the semi-final stage of the Champions League, while the other semi-final will see upstarts Atletico Madrid play Premier League stars Chelsea.

Bayern saw off a spirited Manchester United in the quarterfinals and although Real had a much tougher time against Borussia Dortmund and lost the game, however they moved to the last four on aggregate.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the fairytale run of Atletico Madrid continued as they flew out of the blocks against Barcelona, and looked far better value than their one goal margin of victory.

Chelsea, like Real Madrid, was flirting with elimination before a late goal from the beleaguered Demba Ba punched their ticket to the final four.

However, the only sore point for Atletico is that their on-loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will only be allowed to play against his parent club for an almost 5.5 million-dollar fee, the report added.
