The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended Mumbai Ranji player Hiken Shah for breaching its Anti-Corruption Code after it was found that he created a flutter ahead of this year's Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
It has been revealed that Shah had approached Rajasthan Royal's leg-spinner Pravin Tambe for match fixing.
The BCCI said in a statement that it has suspended Shah with immediate effect, adding that he was found guilty of breaching the Anti-Corruption Code.
Tambe had earlier reportedly said that that he was approached by his Ranji teammate, adding that he had declined the offer. Tambe also said that he had reported the incident to the BCCI's anti-corruption unit before this year's tournament.
Shah, who last played against Uttar Pradesh at Kanpur in December 2014, has been a consistent performer for Mumbai.
