American actor Betty Gilpin is all set to star in 'A Dog's Journey', the sequel of fantasy-drama 'A Dog's Purpose' alongside Dennis Quaid and Josh Gad, who voiced the titular dog, Bailey, in the first film.
Television director Gail Mancuso of 'Modern Family' fame will be directing the same from a screenplay written by author W. Bruce Cameron, along with Cathryn Michon, Wally Wolodarsky and Maya Forbes, confirmed The Hollywood Reporter.
In the 2017 drama, the story revolved around a dog who discovered the true purpose of its life through its four reincarnations over the course of four decades, even as it bonds with different characters and tries to solve their problems.
Starring Britt Robertson and K.J. Apa, the film had grossed USD 196 million at the global box office, USD 88 million of which was from China.
'A Dog's Journey' will hit theatres on May 17 next year.
