Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad on Friday termed the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as "black law" and said protests will continue until the legislation is not withdrawn.
"Till the time, this black law is not withdrawn, the protest will continue," Azad said. ANI.
He said the protest was peaceful and claimed the administration entered Jama Masjid and resorted to baton charge.
"It is wrong. We were beaten up. We don't support violence. Those sitting in their houses are traitors. We are with our country. People should not be divided on religious lines," he told ANI.
Earlier in the day, Police tried to detain him in Delhi's Jama Masjid area during the protest against the Act but his supporters escorted him out of the spot.
He was earlier denied permission for a protest march from Jama Masjid to Jantar Mantar.
Hundreds of people gathered in Jama Masjid area of Old Delhi in the protest against the CAA and raised slogan slamming the new law.
Protests have been held at different places in the national capital against the Act.
