Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck arrived in New Delhi on Monday to bolster bilateral relations between the two nations, and to resolve major issues,including India's decision to withdraw fuel subsidy on supply of kerosene and cooking gas.
The Bhutanese Royals were received at the aiport by Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur.
India's withdrawal of subsidy on kerosene and cooking gas led to a steep price rise in Bhutan, a step that became a crucial issue during general elections of 2013 in Bhutan.
King Wangchuck is visiting India after Bhutan's general elections in 2013. Accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation and his wife, Queen Jetsun Pemaout, the royals are on a five-day visit to the country.
King Wangchuck is also scheduled to meet Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, Vice-President, Hamid Ansari.
This is King Wangchuck's second visit in 12 months. He was the also the chief guest at India's Republic Day celebrations last year.
