Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Togbay has proposed a recommendation to sack Foreign Minister Rinzin Dorje.
According to the Daily Star, Dorje is on "authorized leave" since January.
The incumbent Foreign Minister, who was exonerated earlier for embezzlement charges, is now defending a corruption charge in the court.
He said that he respects the Prime Minister's decision, but refused to comment further.
The decision was reached despite Dorje's acquittal by the Haa district court and an appeal against the verdict to the High Court.
Dorje was on authorised absence since January 23 this year.
