Bihar Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh on Thursday gave order to investigate into the soil scam involving former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tej Pratap Yadav.
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Kumar Modi earlier on Tuesday alleged Yadav of giving a contract worth Rs. 90 lakh to a company for construction of pathways and improvement of the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park without tender.
The soil was allegedly dug out during the construction of a mall being built on a plot of land owned by the Yadav family on the outskirts of Patna.
While urging Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to set up an all-party committee to probe the scam, the BJP leader demanding Yadav's ouster from the cabinet.
However, denying the allegations, Yadav has threatened to file a defamation suit against Modi.
This is not the first time that the Yadavs have been accused of corruption.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was charged are in connection with the case pertaining to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs. 96 lakh during his chief ministerial tenure.
The fodder scam relates to fraudulent withdrawal of around Rs. 1,000 crore by the Animal Husbandry department from various districts when Lalu was the Bihar chief minister from 1990 to 1997.
