Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Captain Abhimanyu Singh on Thursday criticized the Samajwadi Party Government for failing to tackle communal skirmishes and violence in Uttar Pradesh in the last year or more, and asked Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to take strict action against all those responsible for the fresh violence in Muzaffarnagar.

"Bharatiya Janata Party strongly condemns the inability of the Uttar Pradesh Government in not being able to contain the communal skirmishes and violence in Uttar Pradesh for more than a year now," said Captain Singh.

"The Bharatiya Janata Party expects Mr. Akhilesh Yadav to act impartially in all these events and take strict action against anyone who is indulging in this sort of communal violence," he added.

Captain Singh further said the BJP also expects the Central Government not to pursue vote bank politics, or the politics of communalism and divisiveness, which is leading to these kinds of communal tensions in Uttar Pradesh and elsewhere.

Four people, including a woman, have been killed in two incidents of violence in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, where communal clashes last month had left over 60 dead and 45,000 homeless.

The clashes occurred in the Bhaurankalan police station area, when people from two communities fought a pitched battle in which three youngsters were shot dead.

The administration has imposed Section 144 in the area to avoid any untoward incident.
