Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has backtracked on the promises that it made prior to the Lok Sabha polls and claimed that it has lost the trust of the people.

Kejriwal said the people of Delhi feel that they have been betrayed by the BJP.

"You voted for the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections with a lot of expectations that they would do something good. Now after seven months, the people are saying that they have been betrayed. The BJP has turned back on every promise that it had made before the polls," Kejriwal said while addressing a public meeting in Shastri Nagar here.

The AAP convener claimed the low turnout in the BJP's rallies clearly indicates that the saffron party is losing its popularity.

"In Delhi, thousands of people gather at the rallies of the Aam Aadmi Party. A few days back there was a rally addressed by a Union Minister, only 75 people attended it. Nobody wants to attend the BJP's rallies. Even the Prime Minister's rally at the Ramlila Ground on January 10 failed to attract the people, many seats were empty during the rally. People are not interested in BJP anymore," he said.

Kejriwal also accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of not passing on the benefits of reduced prices of crude oil in the international market to the consumers.

"Crude oil is imported and then purified. If the crude prices have become half in the last six months then shouldn't the price of petrol also come down accordingly," Kejriwal asked.

The elections for 70-member Delhi Assembly will take place on February 7 while the results will be announced on February 10.

The major political parties in the fray have been campaigning aggressive for the polls. The campaigning ends on February 5.
