Congress party leader Rajiv Shukla on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the NDA government at Centre of questioning the relevance of democracy by imposing president's rule in Uttarakhand. He also said that the Congress on Monday said that it will debate on the Uttarakhand political crisis issue as the matter has questioned the relevance of democracy in the nation.
Congress spokesperson Rajiv Shukla told ANI, "It is a very important issue, has to be discussed, the BJP cannot escape a debate by saying that the matter is in the court. This issue is related with the relevance of democracy which has been questioned in this case. It is very important to discuss this issue. When the BJP was in the opposition it used to rake up issues which were in court, we will do the same.'
Earlier in the day, Naidu said the Government is willing to discuss every issue in the Parliament, but hinted that the Uttarakhand President's Rule issue may not be discussed as the matter is pending before the Supreme Court.
The session will continue till May 13. Last month, the budget session of Parliament was prorogued to facilitate the promulgation of an ordinance to meet the financial requirements of centrally-ruled Uttarakhand.
