The Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested several people in connection with Thursday night's incident where a gang of unidentified assailants opened fire at BJP leader Brij Pal Teotia, who suffered severe injuries, and is probing whether it is a case of personal enmity.
ADG Law and Order, Daljit Singh Chaudhary, said the police has collected many clues.
"We've got many clues. We are also going through the matters of personal enmity. We will reach on to the conclusion soon and the culprits will be brought to book," said Chaudhary.
"As far as the progress of this case is concerned, the police is working on different lines under which many people have been arrested, different teams have been made to interrogate them. Till now, we have seized an AK-47, a magazine, cartridge, two pistols and a carbine. We have also seized the Fortuner car, which was used during the attack," he added.
Teotia, who is presently being treated at Fortis, Noida, is under strict vigil of the doctors. His condition is now said to be stable.
"I have spoken with the doctors, Teotia ji is feeling better. The operation has just been completed. He is under watch. Doctors have said that his condition is stable," said Chaudhary.
The BJP leader yesterday sustained severe injuries after a gang of unidentified assailants opened fire at his SUV in Rawli Road when he was coming from Murad Nagar to Ghaziabad.
According to reports, Teotia sustained about five gunshot wounds after his car was attacked at around 8 p.m. yesterday.
Teotia was travelling with five others, including his bodyguards. All of them sustained bullet injuries.
