The BJP Legislature Party will meet here on Tuesday to elect its leader.
The swearing-in ceremony of the next chief minister of Maharashtra is likely to take place on Thursday at the Wankhede stadium.
Both BJP and Shiv Sena sources continue to maintain that government formation talks are still on between the two sides, and that there is no breakthrough as yet.
BJP leader Vinod Tawde said that his party is ready to enter into a partnership with the Shiv Sena without conditions. He reportedly also said that the Shiv Sena needs to realise that it is not in a position to call the political shots as it did during the previous alliance, as it was now in a junior status.
As the single largest party in the state, the BJP is in all likelihood ready to name Devendra Fadnavis as the next chief minister regardless of whether the Shiv Sena comes or does not come on board.
