The Congress party on Monday downplayed Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's assertion that world is praising India for demonetisation and Goods and Services Tax (GST) and said they are living in delusion.

Speaking to ANI, Congress leader Ranjeet Ranjan said, "Jaitley ji is saying that world is praising India for demonetisation and GST. On that note we should also not forget about the statements made by their own party leader Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shorie. They are in a delusion that the world is impressed with India's structural reforms. On what basis he is saying that all the countries across the world are praising India for these reforms? They are not even able to provide employment. Jaitley ji is senior advocate but not a Finance Minister."

The Union Finance Minister on Saturday said that countries across the world are lauding India for having the guts to bring in major structural reforms like demonetisation and Goods and Services Tax (GST).

In an exclusive interview with ANI, the Finance Minister, who was in US to attend annual meeting of the IMF and World bank, said that the comments made by the experts worldwide on India's structural reforms underline the country's confident image.
