Branding the recent chaos in the Tamil Nadu Assembly as shocking, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday slammed the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) saying that their behavior was very disappointing and unfavorable in a democracy.
"At a time when people of the state were looking for a responsive government and opposition to act in peaceful manner to ensure that the trust votes go through without any ruckus, the entire script has gone the other way. Tamil Nadu, which has glorious tradition of sorting out problems in a very amicable and peaceful manner, finds its politicians' behavior very disappointing," BJP leader G.V.L. Narsimha Rao told ANI.
Rao further appealed to all political factions in the state to maintain peace and urged them to ensure that that the governance goes off peacefully.
Echoing similar sentiments, BJP leader Sudesh Verma said that the ruckus which took place in the Tamil Nadu assembly was not in the right spirit.
"The authority of the speaker is to be respected but we hope that this will end the crisis in Tamil Nadu and the AIADMK which has been voted to power, will deliver justice to people," he said.
Earlier on Saturday, the DMK wrote to Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao dubbing the floor test conducted in the absence of his party members as foul and unconstitutional.
Earlier in the day, DMK working president M.K. Stalin and other MLAs were detained by police for protesting against the floor test result at Chennai's Marina Beach.
Amid the uproar in the Tami Nadu Assembly during Saturday's much-anticipated floor test, Palanisamy won the vote of confidence with 122 MLAs supporting him.
