The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said it will send a team of its office-bearers to Uttar Pradesh to analyse the Barabanki and Shahjahanpur incidents and submit reports on the same.

"The BJP is quite serious regarding this issue; hence a national team will visit the state today and analyse the Barabanki and Shahjahanpur incidents to prepare and submit reports on the same," BJP spokesperson Shrikant Sharma told ANI.

Sharma further launched an attack on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for his 'inaction' in the aftermath of the Barabanki incident, where a woman was allegedly burnt alive by police officers after a rape attempt.

"When a woman goes to a police station to free her husband, instead of helping her, the woman is teased, an attempt of rape takes place and she is burnt alive. And, Akhilesh Yadav instead of taking strict action against the criminals suspends them for show," said the BJP leader.

"Even in an earlier incident of Shahjahanpur, the journalist had in his dying declaration said that there was an attempt of burning him alive. But the accused Cabinet ministers of the Uttar Pradesh government were given protection. Akhilesh Yadav was seen to cover up the whole situation," he added.

Journalist Jagendra Singh was allegedly set on fire by Uttar Pradesh policemen last month during a raid at his house in Sadar Bazar, Shahjahanpur.
