A powerful explosion occurred at Peshawar's Ring Road area on Friday, in which one policeman was killed and five injured.

Unconfirmed reports indicated that the blast may have occurred due to an improvised explosive device (IED), The Express Tribune quoted the bomb disposal squad as saying.

Police and rescue teams reached the blast site and shifted the injured to hospitals.

A spokesperson from Rescue 1122 said that the five people injured in the blast were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.

This is the second attack on a police van in the last three days.

More details are awaited.
