Former Indian cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Sachin Tendulkar today cast his vote, along with his wife Anjali, at a polling booth in Mumbai along with his wife to cast their votes in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
After giving his vote, the Master Blaster urged the nation to come and cast vote if they wanted to bring change.
"Rather than complaining and being unhappy about something, I would ask everyone to come and vote and bring in that change. Whatever change they need, they need to be here to vote to bring in that change," Tendulkar requested.
The local body polls would be witnessing a high pitch battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Shiv Sena, the Congress, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Notably, the Shiv Sena, an ally of the BJP at the Centre and as well as at the Maharashtra Government, will be facing off with the latter after Uddhav Thackrey decided to part ways for the BMC polls.
Tight security has been put across the city for the ongoing Mumbai Municipal Corporations elections and police are maintaining a strong vigil to avert any untoward incident across the 7,304 polling centres.
Polling for 227 seats of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai started at 7:30 am and will conclude at 5:30 pm. A total of 17,331 candidates are in the fray for 3,210 seats in 10 municipal corporations.
