Boat capsizes in West Bengal: Three dead, 40 missing

At least three persons lost their and over forty others went missing after a boat capsized in river Ganga at Manikchak in West Bengal's Malda District this morning.

According to reports, the boat was carrying about 50 passengers of which six were rescued while the rest swam to safety.

A civil defence team has been pressed into service for rescue work. Besides, a team of the disaster management group has rushed from Kolkata to join them.

The State Government has announced a compensation of two lakh rupees to the families of the victims.
