Chief Parliamentary Secretary and MLA Inderbir Singh Bolaria today thanked Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for releasing a grant of Rs. 34 crore for the development of the holy city.

The grant money will be spent for the laying of roads, repair of the roads in the walled city and others parts and strengthening of the basic amenities including water supply and sewerage system.

Bolaria along with District Akali Dal (Urban) Head Upkar Singh Sandhu said in a joint statement that the money Deputy CM has already announced the grants to the tune of Rs.1500 crores for the mega projects for the city to make the city a world class destination of tourists and pilgrims. He said the beautification of the surroundings of the Golden Temple was already in progress.

In a press statement issued here, Bolaria said Sukhbir Badal had a 'vision and will' for the development of the 'holy city' and is always worried about the development of the city. He said the new and modernized transport system will also be put in place for which the global tenders were being issued for the Pod transport system.

He said already the Elevated Road had been proving to be the boon for the city residents as it has helped to ease down the city traffic.

"The Deputy CM has promised funds for the overall of the sewerage system for the city too," he said.

The two Akali leaders also stated that the surroundings of the Golden Temple are being beautified with the multi-crore Panorama and parking place in front of the Golden Temple.

"The city is mecca of the Sikhs and witness pilgrims arriving here from all over the world and we are committed to make Amritsar a world class city," said Bolaria. He added that SAD will not leave any stone unturned to realize this dream and would arrange necessary funds for the development and initiating of the new projects for the city.

He said there was a false propaganda being unleashed that the Deputy Chief Minister focuses only on big projects but the grant released shows that apart from the macro-planning Badal was keeping in focus the micro-level planning too.
