Brazilian football legend Pele, who was moved into tears after getting a Ballon d'Or in Zurich on Monday, despite retiring in 1977, has said another wave of emotion will flow if Brazil fails to win the Fifa World Cup in their own backyard.
Speaking in Dubai on Thursday as he was unveiled as a global ambassador for Emirates airline, Pele recalled the only previous occasion Brazil hosted a World Cup - in 1950, when they lost the decisive match 2-1 to Uruguay at the Maracana Stadium in Rio De Janeiro.
That disappointment as an eight-year-old fan inspired Pele to go on and become the only footballer to win three World Cups, Gulf News reports.
Pele said he saw his father crying after Brazil lost to Uruguay and this memory has been in his mind ever since.
He further said that now he teases his son, who is 16 and has started to play for the Santos youth team, if you don't want to see your father crying than Brazil has to win the World Cup.
