Brazil's 7-1 World Cup thrashing by Germany in their semifinal clash has reportedly become the most discussed sports game ever on Twitter, with more than 35 million tweets.
Also on Facebook, the match triggered the highest level of conversation for any single World Cup game so far, with more than 66 million people having had over 200 million interactions and hosts Brazil dominated about a quarter of the global conversation.
Twitter data shows that there were a record number of tweets posted per minute during Germany's ongoing scoring rage against Brazil, with the peak being when Sami Khedira scored their fifth goal of the match. At that point 5,80,166 tweets were posted per minute, The BBC reported.
People used social media to share their feelings about the game and it was a rollercoaster of emotions for both sides.
People reportedly shared images and videos of Brazilian fans in tears on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Vine.
Along with heavy condemnation of their team's performance, Brazilians also used Twitter to reflect on the situation and display national pride, with #WeStillProudOfYouBrazil trending after the game with more than 37,000 tweets, the report added.
