British Prime Minister Theresa May on Friday said Britain may never leave the European Union (EU) if lawmakers voted against the Brexit deal.Delivering a speech in Grimsby ahead of the vote in British Parliament on March 12, May remarked that the country 'may not leave EU at all' if the MPs reject the deal.
"Next week, Members of Parliament in Westminster face a crucial choice, whether to back the Brexit deal or reject it. Back it, and UK will leave the European Union; reject it, and no one knows what will happen. We may not leave the EU for many months, we may leave without the protections that the deal provides. We may never leave at all," said Theresa, as per a video posted on her Twitter account.
May reminded the MPs that the decision to leave the EU belongs to the people of Britain and not just the lawmakers.
"The Brexit does not belong to the MPs in parliament, it belongs to the whole country. It belongs to the people who voted for it and wanted to see it implemented, so we could all move on to a prosperous future."
If the Parliament rejects the newly negotiated deal with the European Union on March 12, a vote on March 13 will take place to decide whether the British Parliament agrees to exit from the EU without a deal on March 29.
According to May, the vote on March 14 on the extension of the Brexit deadline would take place if the House rejects leaving the EU without a deal on March 13.
