England pace bowler Stuart Broad has declared himself fit enough to bowl his side to a series win in the final Test against India at The Oval and has rejected the offer of a nose job.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had offered Broad cosmetic surgery after doctors confirmed that the fast bowler could be left with a dent on his mangled nose once the swelling has gone.

But despite the well-documented care and attention Broad takes over his appearance, he is happy that he is able to breathe comfortably through his nose and is happy to keep the character in his face, The Mirror reported.

Broad said that he is fit and raring to go, and added that there has been no problem with batting and bowling so he is available to play.

Broad wore a plastic protective cover on his broken nose, with medical tape to secure it, on Thursday. However, he would not wear it to bowl and field this week, but might use it when batting as an extra precaution.

The 28-year-old has also made a helmet switch from the Ayrtek lid that he wore when he was hit during the fourth Test in Manchester, to a new-style Masuri one designed to prevent balls sneaking between peak and grille, the report added.
