Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 37.27 points up to stand at 27,549.53. At the National Stock Exchange (Nifty) closed 6.40 points up to stand at 8,355.85.
Jet Airways (India) Ltd., Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd, Oberoi Realty Ltd. and S K S Microfinance Ltd. were among the top gainers of Group A, registering increases of 4.32, 3.99, 3.84 and 3.61 percent respectively.
Jindal Steel and Power Ltd., National Aluminium Co. Ltd., Reliance Communication Ltd. and Vedanta Ltd. were the top losers in Group A, registering decreases of 11.10, 9.69, 9.38 and 9.26 percent at the close of the markets.
The auto sector was up 81.02 points at 19,005.80, while the banking sector was up 140.54 points at 20,852.31.
The Realty sector was down 19.39 points at 1,328.04.
The Indian currency ended up 0.49 percent at Rs. 65.09 per dollar.
