Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Sudhindra Bhadoria on Saturday called on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to resign, and asked the Centre to impose president's rule in the state if he declines to do so.
Bhadoria said, "In Uttar Pradesh, the Akhilesh Yadav's administration has failed. The state of lawlessness there has reached its climax, where women are raped and hanged. Removing the officers is not enough. He (Akhilesh) himself should step down as chief minister, as he is not able to run the administration. If he is not resigning himself, then the centre should impose president's rule in the state."
Bhadoria's comment came hours after Akhilesh Yadav had asked for a CBI inquiry into the double rape and murder case in Badaun.
A state government statement said that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday gave his nod for a probe conducted by the CBI into this case provided the victims family is ready for it.
On Wednesday, two teenage sisters were allegedly gang-raped and murdered with their bodies found hanging from a tree in Katra village of the district.
The two girls, who were cousins and aged 14 and 15 years, went missing from their house on Tuesday night.
