Thervada Buddhists from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and other parts of Northeast came together recently to celebrate the Poi Lu Fra and Poi Lu Lik festivals.
A religious procession carrying Buddha Statues (Lu Fra) and decorated celestial trees (Tun Petesha) was taken out, accompanied by recitation of religious chants and beating of drum and cymbals.
The two-day programme included a number of events including hoisting of Buddhist flag, offering of food to Monks, illumination of temple and community feast.
The specialty of the festival is the offering of Buddha statues and Buddhist Holy Scriptures to the Monastery by devotees.
