British formula one racer Jenson Button has confirmed that he is looking beyond 2015 to stay at McLaren in order to fight for world championship following McLaren's decision to retain him in the driver's line up next season.

The 2009 world champion stated that it is important to be a part of McLaren-Honda for more than one year, adding that he would not just stay here for a year as he is looking forward to contest for the world championships, the BBC reported.

Button said that to race alongside new teammate Fernando Alonso would be a big, but exciting challenge, adding that he would not shy away from new challenges while entering into his 16th year in formula one.

Ron Dennis, chairman of McLaren, said that they have settled all the concerns between them, adding that next target would be to deliver on the promises they have committed to each other.

McLaren have confirmed Kevin Magnussen as a reserve and test driver.
