England skipper Alastair Cook has praised team's performance especially Joe Root for his stellar unbeaten knock of 104 that saw Cook's team come away with the second win of the series against Sri Lanka.
Cook said that they have made some good strides despite losing three games in the series, adding that they still trail Sri Lanka 3-2, with two matches remaining, the BBC reported.
Applauding team's performance, he said that it has been fantastic in the sense that they have trained incredibly and subsequently could execute the shots in the right way.
Praising Kumar Sangakkara for his knock of 93, he said that Sanga was a master class in batting and Root delivered a performance in the same league.
After rain suspended the play on Wednesday, the visitors returned to chase down a 240-run victory target with five balls left.
