The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Monday approved a proposal of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for continuation of the Agriculture Export Promotion Plan Scheme of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) with four components in the 12th Plan period (2012-13 to 2016-17).
These components are infrastructure development, transport assistance, market development and quality development.
The outlay of the scheme will be Rs.1100 crore during the 12th Plan period.
The main objective of the scheme is to enhance the capability of the Indian exporters of agro products and support them in realizing their export potential.
The components of the scheme would help in catalyzing the efforts of the exporting community through need based interventions by APEDA at different stages of the supply chain.
