Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday heaped praise on the Indian Army, saying they carried out a "100 percent perfect surgical strike" on the seven terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC).

"We carried out a 100 percent perfect surgical strike. Our nation carries the heart and courage to carry this task out. There are many people who are not loyal to our country and criticized the Indian Army, but we don't have to give them any proof," Parrikar said while addressing the BJP workers and locals at the GIC ground here.

"Some ex-servicemen wrote to me and said that they are ready to fight on the border if need arises. I salute them," he added.

Earlier, the Defence Minister was felicitated by the party's Lucknow Mahanagar and Agra Mahanagar units.

Parrikar's tour of Uttar Pradesh comes in the midst of the raging debate over details of surgical strikes carried out by the army, with a section of the opposition asking the government to release the details and video of the operations in the face of Pakistan denying any such LoC transgressions.

The relationship between the two estranged neighbours has plunged to a new low in recent times in the wake of Uri terror attack and the subsequent predawn September 29 surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army along the LoC.
